Salman is best known for overseeing the development of the Saudi capital, Riyadh, during his nearly 50 years as its governor. He also gave women the right to vote and to compete in the Olympics. Dubai’s Maze Tower listed in Guinness World Records The emirate can now lay claim to yet another Guinness World Record after becoming the home of the world’s largest vertical maze. The 55-storey tall Maze Tower is located just off Sheikh Zayed Road in the heart of the Dubai Financial District. • The building features an eye-catching front and rear front elevation of balconies that make up an intricate maze • The design uses the changing level of natural light and shadow during the day. • The tower shows the Maze Eye, an 8 metre circular video wall at the top of the building which can beam images at great distances. Tiger census: Numbers rise from 1,400 to 2,226 in seven years India’s Tiger count has gone up by more than 30% in the past four years. The study put the number at 2,226, up from 1,706 in 2010 when the last such tiger-counting exercise was undertaken. Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar, who released the study, said India is now home to about 70% of tigers in the world. Karnataka has the largest number of 406 tigers, according to this report.
