Dubai’s Maze Tower listed in Guinness World Records

The emirate can now lay claim to yet another Guinness World Record after becoming the home of the world’s largest vertical maze. The 55-storey tall Maze Tower is located just off Sheikh Zayed Road in the heart of the Dubai Financial District.

•        The building features an eye-catching front and rear front elevation of balconies that make up an intricate maze

•        The design uses the changing level of natural light and shadow during the day.

•        The tower shows the Maze Eye, an 8 metre circular video wall at the top of the building which can beam images at great distances.

Note – Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world is also in Dubai, (United Arab Emirates).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” campaign

“Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” campaign was launched with the objective of improving India’s child sex ratio. The scheme was launched at Panipat in Haryana, a state with one of the poorest sex ratios (879) in the country. India’s child sex ratio dropped from 964 in 1971 to a low of 918 in 2011, according to U.N. data.

On this occasion Sukanya Samridhi Account (SSA) scheme (girl child prosperity scheme) was also launched, under which girl children below 10 years will have bank accounts with more interest rate (9.1%) and income tax benefits with a minimum deposit of Rs. 1000 and maximum of Rs. 1.5 lakh in a financial year.

 Choose BCCI post or CSK, SC to Srinivasan

Supreme Court has struck down the controversial 6.2.4 clause that allows BCCI officials to own IPL teams. It tells N. Srinivasan to choose between his IPL team Chennai Super Kings and BCCI president’s post. A three-member panel headed by former Chief Justice of India RM Lodha and other former judges of the top court – Ashok Bhan and RV Raveendran – was also formed to decide the fate of Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals and recommend changes in the BCCI constitution.
