G-20 launches W-20 grouping for gender inclusive economic growth

Group of Twenty (G-20), a forum of world’s 20 largest economies, including India launched Women-20 (W20), an engagement grouping of women leaders in order to push for gender inclusive global economic growth. It was launched in the on-going G-20 Summit of Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors in Ankara under the Turkish Presidency. Gulden Turktan from Turkey has been appointed as the first President W20 forum.

Doha Bank ties up with Anil Ambani’s Reliance Group

Doha Bank has signed as MoU with Anil Ambani-led Reliance Group to generate business opportunities in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations and India. The GCC comprises Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman. The MoU is envisaged to provide tangible business opportunities and further prospects for expansion for Doha Bank and Reliance Group.

The agreement has been signed by Anil Ambani Chairman Reliance Group and Doha Bank Group CEO R Seetharaman in the presence of Sanjiv Arora, Ambassador of India to Qatar.

Govt to develop Bodh Gaya as spiritual capital

Describing Bodh Gaya as the “land of enlightenment”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said his government would develop the site as the spiritual capital for it to serve as a civilisational bond between India and the Buddhist world.

Queen Elizabeth II becomes longest-reigning UK monarch

Queen Elizabeth II becomes Britain’s longest-reigning monarch later when she passes the record set by her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria. The Queen, who is 89, will have reigned for 63 years and seven months – calculated at 23,226 days, 16 hours and approximately 30 minutes at about 17:30 BST. Prime Minister David Cameron will lead tributes in the House of Commons and there will be a River Thames salute.

September 08: The International Literacy Day 

The International Literacy Day 2015 has been observed on September 08 to create awareness about literacy and raising it to an optimum level. The theme of International Literacy Day 2015 is Literacy and Sustainable Societies. Literacy is a key driver for sustainable development. September 8 was proclaimed International Literacy Day by UNESCO on November 17, 1965. It was first celebrated in 1966.

Lewis Hamilton wins 2015 Italian Grand Prix of Formula One

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton of Britain won 2015 Italian Grand Prix of Formula One. This was his seventh victory of the season. His win for the season 2015 of Formula One began with Australian Grand Prix and later won Chinese Grand Prix, Bahrain Grand Prix, Canadian Grand Prix, British Grand Prix and Belgian Grand Prix. Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel was second as Rosberg suffered an engine failure with three laps to go.
