PM Modi conferred Saudi’s highest civilian honour

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred Saudi Arabia’s highest civilian honourthe King Abdulaziz Sash. The Prime Minister was conferred the prestigious award by King Salman bin Abdulaziz at the Royal Court.

  • The award is named after Abdulaziz Al Saud, the founder of modern Saudi state.
  • World leaders who have received the honour include US President Barack Obama, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, British Prime Minister David Cameron and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

India ranked 6th in top 10 largest manufacturers list: UN report

India has been ranked sixth among the world’s Top-Ten largest manufacturing countries in the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) 2015 Yearbook report.

  • In this edition of report India has jumped by three positions to sixth position compared to earlier ninth position in the previous report.
  • India’s Manufacturing Value Added grew by 7.6 percent in 2015 compared to the previous year.
  • The global growth rate of manufacturing production has slowed to 2.8 percent in 2015.
  • China tops the list followed by US, Japan, Germany and Korea. Indonesia was at the bottom.

Nico Roseberg wins 2016 Bahrain Grand Prix 

Nico Rosberg wins Bahrain Grand Prix as Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton finishes third in Sakhir following first lap collision.

  • Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg claimed the 2016 Bahrain Grand Prix to win his fifth straight race.
  • Kimi Raikkonen finished second for Ferrari as team-mate Sebastian Vettel suffered an engine failure on parade lap.

Novak Djokovic beats Kei Nishikori at Miami Open to win 63rd career title

World No.1 Novak Djokovic clinched the 2016 Miami Open after beating Kei Nishikori in straight sets 6-3 6-3 in the final in Florida.

  • It was his third consecutive and overall sixth ATP Miami Open title, equalling Andre Agassi’s Miami record total.
  • It was also his record 28th career ATP Masters title.

Women’s singles:

Victoria Azarenka (Belarus) won the 2016 Miami Open Title in the women’s singles category. In the final match she defeated Svetlana Kuznetsova (Russia).

Men’s doubles:

French pair of Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut won the 2016 Miami Open Title in the men’s doubles category. In the final match they defeated pair of Raven Klaasen (South Africa) and Rajeev Ram (US).

Women’s doubles:

Bethanie Mattek-Sands (US) Lucie Šafářová (Czech Republic) won the 2016 Miami Open Title in the women’s doubles category. In the final match they defeated pair of Tímea Babos (Hungary) and Yaroslava Shvedova (Kazakhstan).
