Government Approve Establishment of six new Indian Institutes of Management

The union cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the proposal to set up six new Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) across the country. Now the total strength of IIMs increases to 19 from 13. The new IIMs would come up at Vishakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Bodh Gaya (Bihar), Sirmaur (Himachal Pradesh), Nagpur (Maharashtra), Sambalpur (Odisha) and Amritsar (Punjab).

Steffi Graf to be Kerala’s Ayurveda Tourism Brand Ambassador

Kerala government has appointed Tennis Icon Steffanie Graf as Ayurveda brand ambassador. As an Ayurveda brand ambassador she will promote Ayurveda tourism of state in North America and Europe with theme Visit Kerala Destination.

  • Steffanie Maria Graf is a German former World number 1 player who has won 22 Grand Slam single titles.
  • She is the only tennis player (male or female) to win 3 grand slams in a calendar year 5 times (1988, 1989, 1993, 1995 and 1996).

‘Titanic’ music composer James Horner dies

James Horner, the two-time Oscar-winning composer, died in a plane crash in California, United States. He was 61. Horner won two Oscars for the music of Titanic and scored for other blockbusters like Avatar, Braveheart, and A Beautiful Mind.

Sister Nirmala Joshi, Successor to Mother Teresa, Dies at 81

Sister Nirmala, who succeeded Nobel laureate Mother Teresa as the superior-general of the Missionaries of Charity, died. She was 81. Sister Nirmala was heading the Missionaries of Charity after Mother Teresa’s death in 1997.

Zaheer Abbas confirmed as ICC president

Former Pakistan cricket team captain Zaheer Abbas has been selected the new President of International Cricket Council (ICC) for one year term. He will be 13th President of ICC and succeeds Mustafa Kamal of Bangladesh who had resigned from the post of ICC President in April 2015.
