Three scientists Youyou Tu (China), Satoshi Omura (Japan) and William Campbell (Ireland) have won 2015 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine. They have been chosen for their pioneering discoveries which have led to the development of potent new drugs against parasitic diseases such as malaria and elephantiasis.

Microblogging site Twitter has appointed its co-founder and interim chief executive officer (CEO) Jack Dorsey as permanent CEO for the second time. He will succeed Dick Costolo, who had resigned in June 2015 after serving to this top post for five years. Twitter also has appointed Adam Bain as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the company.

India pips China to emerge as world’s largest cotton producer

India has emerged world’s largest cotton producer in the season ending on September 30, 2015, by surpassing China. As per data released by the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC), India has produced 6.51 million tonnes (mt) of the cotton against 6.48 mt registered by China in the cotton year 2014-15.

INS Astradharini Joins The Indian Navy

INS Astradharani was commissioned into Indian Navy at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. It is Indian Navy’s first totally indigenously-designed and built Torpedo launch and recovery vessel (TRV). It is an advanced replacement for INS Astravahini which was decommissioned from India Navy in July, 2015.
