Andhra Pradesh govt approves Amaravathi as new state capital The Andhra Pradesh cabinet on Wednesday approved “Amaravathi” as the name of the new capital city of the State. It is situated on the right bank of the mighty Krishna River in Guntur district of the state. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu announced that by naming the new capital after the Satavahana empire’s birth place. India successfully launches navigation satellite IRNSS-1D Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) successfully launched Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS)-1D. It was launched by Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) C-27 into the orbit from Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.
