Andhra Pradesh govt approves Amaravathi as new state capital The Andhra Pradesh cabinet on Wednesday approved “Amaravathi” as the name of the new capital city of the State. It is situated on the right bank of the mighty Krishna River in Guntur district of the state. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu announced that by naming the new capital after the Satavahana empire’s birth place. Amaravathi means the City of Gods or in other words, an immortal city. it was ruled by Lord Indira.
