Earth Hour observed across the world
Ninth edition of Earth Hour was observed by millions of people across the world between 08:30 PM to 09:30 PM (local time) to conserve energy and for the sake of environment. Lights and other electronic appliances were off for an hour to celebrate the Earth Hour, the global campaign of awareness for climate change. This year’s Earth Hour celebrated on Saturday 28 March as the French capital prepares to host a crucial UN climate conference in December that will bring together the international community to discuss efforts to limit global warming.

Singapore, who transformed Singapore from a small port city into a wealthy global hub, has died at the age of 91. Mr Lee served as the city-state’s prime minister for 31 years and continued to work in government until 2011.
Australia lift World Cup 2015, beat New Zealand by 7 wickets
Australia lifted the ICC World Cup 2015, by defeating New Zealand in the final by 7 wickets at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). This was the 5th ODI cricket World Cup title for Australia. Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc was named the Player of the Tournament who finished with a figure of 22 wickets in the tournament and all-rounder James Faulkner was named man-of-the-match for his devastating spell 3/36 in world cup final.
Saina Nehwal, K. Srikant win Indian Open Super Series
Saina Nehwal and K. Srikanth, respectively, won the women’s and men’s title of $275,000 India Open badminton championship. The newly crowned World No. 1 Saina Nehwal defeated former World Champion Ratchanok Intanon (Thailand) by 21-16, 21-14 to won her maiden India Open title. Second-seeded K. Srikanth, on the other hand, defeated World No. 6 Viktor Axelsen (Denmark ) by 18-21, 21-13, 21-12 to win the men’s title.
Sebastian Vettel wins the Malaysian Grand Prix
Ferrari team’s Sebastian Vettel ended Mercedes’ long Formula One winning streak by winning the Malaysian Grand Prix held at the Sepang International Circuit. Lewis Hamilton (Britain) of Mercedes took second place while his German teammate Nico Rosberg was third. Mercedes had won the previous eight races dating back to last season and had been expected to dominate through 2015. It was Ferrari’s first victory since the 2013 Spanish Grand Prix.
