PM Modi launches Soil Health Card
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch a nationwide scheme to analyse the soil of farms in the country scientifically. The‘ Soil Health Card’ scheme will be launched at a rally in Suratgarh town in Sriganganagar district of Rajasthan. Under the scheme, farmers will be issued a card after scientific analysis of the soil of their farms. It will carry crop-wise recommendation of fertilisers required for farm lands and other inputs to increase the productivity of individual farmer.
Rashad Hussain appointed as US Special Envoy and Coordinator
Rashad Hussain, an Indian-American has been appointed United States (US) Special Envoy and Coordinator for Strategic Counterterrorism Communications. He will hold both posts. Prior to this appointment, he was Special Envoy of the US to Organisation for Islamic Countries (OIC).
Government launches eBiz portal with 11 services
Union Government has launched a single window government-to-business (G2B) portal- e-Biz (www.ebiz.gov.in) for 11 Central government services to bring transparency and ease of doing business in the country. The portal was unveiled to public by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in New Delhi.
Snapdeal acquires luxury goods portal Exclusively
Online retailer Snapdeal.com has acquired luxury fashion portal Exclusively.com for an undisclosed amount. With this acquisition, Snapdeal is seeking to expand its presence in the high-end fashion segment and targeting $2 billion in gross merchandise value (GMV) by the end of the current calendar year.
Anil Kumble to be Inducted Into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame
Former Indian captain Anil Kumble is all set to become the 77th member of the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame after his name is inducted in the prestigious list during India’s World Cup match against South Africa here on Sunday. Kumble, who is now the Chairman of the ICC Cricket Committee, is the fourth Indian cricketer to be inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame after fellow former captains Bishen Bedi, Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar were inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in 2009.
