ICICI Bank’s first Chinese branch inaugurated in Shanghai
ICICI Bank’s first branch in China was inaugurated in Shanghai, a major global financial hub. It was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the presence of ICICI Bank’s MD and CEO Chanda Kochhar. Currently ICICI Bank is India’s biggest private sector lender with a total consolidated asset base of US $ 132 billion and has presence in 17 countries.

Ousted Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi sentenced to death
Ousted Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi was sentenced to death by Cairo court for his part in a mass jailbreak in 2011. Morsi is leader of Muslim Brotherhood Party. The Wadi al-Natrun prison break took place during the 2011 January revolution and eventually led to the deposition of Hosni Mubarak. He was Egypt’s first freely elected president after the military rule under Hosni Mubarak came to end in 2011.
The Opah Is The First Warm-Blooded Fish Ever Found
A new research done by the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has found the world’s first fully warm-blooded fish named Opah or moonfish. This fish circulates heated blood throughout its body much like mammals and birds.
Note: Warm- blooded animals: They generate their own heat and maintain a body temperature independent of the environment. They are also known as endotherms. It should be noted that most mammals and birds are warm-blooded.
Scientists have discovered a new state of matter, called ‘Jahn-Teller metals’
A team of scientists from Tohoku University (Japan) recently have discovered a new state of matter called the ‘Jahn-Teller-metal’ that appears to be an insulator, superconductor, metal and magnet all rolled into one. The research could help develop new molecular materials that are superconductors at even higher temperatures, researchers said.
China sweep Japan to take Sudirman Cup
China won their sixth consecutive Sudirman Cup, defeating Japan (3-0). Japan had reached the badminton tournament’s finals for the first time. It is a record 10th Sudirman Cup title for China. The Sudirman Cup was launched in 1989 and is one of the most prestigious tournaments in badminton. It is world mixed team badminton championship which takes place every two years.
