Asia overtakes Europe as world’s second richest region
Asia has overtaken Europe as the world’s second richest region. According to an annual report by the Boston Consulting Group, a global management consulting firm, the Asia-Pacific, excluding Japan, held 47 trillion dollars in private wealth in 2014 as the number of new millionaires rose in China and India. North America is the world’s richest region with 51 trillion dollars, but is expected to be surpassed by Asia in 2016.
Japan passes law to lower voting age to 18 from 20 years
Japan has lowered the voting age in the country from 20 to 18 years. The legislation will come into effect during the 2016 Upper House Election and will add about 2.4 million new potential voters to Japan’s current voting population of 104 million. Last time, Japan lowered the age of voting from 25 to 20 and gave voting rights to women in 1945 after the World War II.
