The amount it will help you cannot be emphasised enough. You’ll understand its value once you start seeing drastic improvements in your score. And your communication skills. And your confidence. And the increase in your knowledge. And improved thinking skills. I can go on, but I think you get the point. How come? Thieves of Experience: How Google and Facebook Corrupted Capitalism By Nicholas Carr JANUARY 14, 2019 IN 2017, a man with the first name Ramon was driving for Uber in the suburbs of Atlanta. He worked the late shift, ferrying intoxicated passengers around, often until early in the morning. Ramon’s cab likely reeked of alcohol from his myriad riders. During one of these late-night rides, a driver swerved into his lane. Ramon jerked the car to one side in an attempt to avoid a crash. The riders came to the conclusion that Ramon was driving drunk and reported it in their review. Ramon was immediately deactivated from Uber. He had effectively been fired on the spot by an algorithm. The 4% Rule: The Easy Answer to “How Much Do I Need for Retirement?” In the Financial Independence Club, we’ve got a little shortcut that goes by names like “The 4% rule”, or “The 4% Safe Withdrawal Rate”.. or simply “The SWR”. As with all things financial, it’s the subject of plenty of controversy, and we’ll get to that (and then punch it flat) later. But for now, for those new to the concept, let’s define the Safe Withdrawal Rate: The Safe Withdrawal Rate is the maximum rate at which you can spend your retirement savings, such that you don’t run out in your lifetime. That sounds nice and simple, but unfortunately it’s an unpredictable thing to nail down. After all, you don’t know what sort of rollercoaster rides the economy will take your retirement savings on, and you also don’t know what rate of inflation will persist through your [...]

What is Hedonic Adaptation and How Can it Turn You Into a Sucka? In writing this blog for you, Mr. Money Mustache actually has three major goals: To make you rich so you can retire early. It’s time to bring back the dumb phone This month has easily been the most Twitter-saturated of my life. As Donald Trump upsets the order of the civilized world, I now regularly find myself in a familiar instinctive pose — left arm folded in, supporting a right hand elevating a smartphone toward my face — reading about the world in a state of growing disbelief. 140-character parcels of angst and black humor hurtle past my eyes and bombard my brain, triggering some chemical reaction that’s at once unpleasant and yet intoxicating.
