PDP’s Mufti Mohammed Sayeed takes oath as J&K CM

Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was sworn-in as Chief Minister of Peoples Democratic Party-Bhartiya Janta Party (PDP-BJP) coalition government of Jammu & Kashmir on 1 March 2015 . As a person he became 9th Chief Minister of J&K and 12th Chief Minister as tenure wise. Senior BJP leader Nirmal Singh was sworn in as the deputy chief minister. This is the second time Sayeed will head a coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir. He took power in 2002, heading a PDP-Congress alliance, for a three-year term.

Durban to host 2022 Commonwealth Games

South African city Durban is set to host the 2022 Commonwealth Games (CWG) as the lone contender for the quadrennial, 71-member multisport event. South Africa has proposed the 12-day Games starting from July 18, birthday of late president Nelson Mandela. Glasgow (Scotland) hosted the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the 2018 edition is scheduled for the Australian Gold Coast.

Martin Crowe Inducted Into The ICC Cricket Hall of Fame

Martin Crowe, former New Zealand captain and player of the ICC Cricket World Cup 1992, was today inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame. Crowe became the third New Zealander, after Sir Richard Hadlee and Debbie Hockley, and the 79th overall to be inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.

Winners of Dubai ATP Tennis Championship 2015

Men’s singles :

Roger Federer of Switzerland beat world number one Novak Djokovic of Serbia, 6-3 7-5 to win his seventh Dubai Championship title. Earlier, he had won in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2012 and 2014.

Women’s singles:

Romanian professional tennis player Simona Halep won the ATP Tennis Championship women’s single title held in Dubai. In the final match, she defeated Karolína Plíšková of Czech Republic by score of 6-4, 7-6.

Men’s doubles:

Rohan Bopanna (India) and Daniel Nestor (Canada) won the Dubai ATP Tennis Championship men’s doubles title. In the final match they defeated Aihsan-Ul-Haq Qureshi (Pakistan) and Nined Zimonjic (Serbia) by score of 6-4, 6-1.

Women’s doubles:

Tímea Babos (Hungary) and Kristina Mladenovic (France) won the Dubai ATP Tennis Championship women’s doubles title. In the final match they defeated Garbiñe Muguruza (Spain) and Carla Suárez Navarro (Spain) by score of 6-3, 6-2.
