President’s rule imposed in Uttarakhand

President Pranab Mukherjee has imposed Present’s Rule (State Emergency) in the state of Uttarakhand in the wake of constitutional breakdown under Article 356 of Constitution. In this regard, President has signed the proclamation state Emergency based on the recommendation of the Union Cabinet.

India’s rotavirus vaccine to combat diarrhoeal deaths launched

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare launched India’s first indigenous rotavirus vaccine named Rotavac to combat infant mortality due to diarrhoea.

The Rotavac vaccine is addition to three new vaccines that have been introduced by Union Government as part of country’s Universal Immunization Programme (UIP). These three vaccines are Inactivated Polio Vaccine (IPV), Measles, Rubella (MR) vaccine, and Adult Japanese Encephalitis (JE) vaccine.

Iran & Pakistan sign agreements to boost security, trade

Iran has signed agreements with Pakistan to boost trade and security. The agreements were signed during Iran President’s visit to Pakistan.

  • The talks between the two leaders mainly concentrated on economic relations and security reasons.
  • This is the visit by an Iranian president after 14 years to Pakistan.
  • The talks were about the issues related to energy, gas ,the export of electricity, economic integration in the region, promoting tourism and also focused on people to people contacts.

Arvind Kejriwal has been named one of the world’s 50 greatest leaders by Fortune magazine. The Delhi Chief Minister, ranked 42, is the only Indian leader on the list, which is topped by Amazon’s CEO Jeff Bezos.

Hockey India Annual Awards: Sreejesh, Deepika walk away with honours

Late Captain Shankar Laxman won the coveted Major Dhyan Chand Lifetime Achievement Award while goalkeeper P.R. Sreejesh and Deepika won the Dhruv Batra Player of the Year Award for Men and Women respectively at the Hockey India (HI) Annual Awards in Banguluru.

Australian all-rounder Shane Watson retires from International Cricket

Australian all-rounder Shane Watson (34) has declared his retirement from all forms of International Cricket after the end of his team’s campaign in the ongoing ICC World Twenty20. He made this announcement at I S Bindra Stadium in Mohali, Punjab. Earlier in 2015, he had announced his retirement from Test cricket at the end of 2015 Ashes tour of England.
